The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is warning home owners, who live in areas that are at more risk of flooding, that their properties may not be covered by home insurance policies, unless the Government, intervene and create measures that will limit floods and thus their damaging affects.

According to the ABI, there are 517,000 homes at significant risk of being flooded. The floods of last summer, cost the ABI’s members £3 billion in claims. Furthermore, nearly 5,000 homeowners are still living in temporary accommodation, following last year’s floods, according to the Government. Of these people, it is estimated that at least one in eight households do not have insurance.

Nearly 50,000 properties were affected by the floods from last June and July, with Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and South Wales being the worst hit.

Speaking at a One Year On conference today, Nick Starling, ABI’s Director of General Insurance and Health, said: “The Government must take steps to identify and better manage the threat of flooding if cover is to remain widely available.

“Flood cover has been standard for household insurance for almost 50 years and is provided on the belief that floods will not occur more than once in every 75 years, or that adequate defences are planned within the next 5 years if the flood risk is higher.

However, last summer’s floods, which were the worst ever recorded, produced 4 years’ worth of claims in only 2 months.

Mr Starling added: “A sense of urgency in dealing with flooding is required.

Research by the ABI has revealed that 75 per cent of Britons believe that not enough action is being taken to prevent similar catastrophes while 98 per cent believe drainage should be at the top of the list in order to reduce the flood risk.”

Half of the insurance claims made last year, were related to flood claims from the victims affected. Claims were made because of damage caused by water coming up through drains. The floods last year revealed that many drainage systems are inadequate to deal with prolonged rain.

In response to the ABI’s findings, Phil Woolas, Environment Minister, said: “It was unfair to suggest that nothing had changed as since last year’s floods. The Environment Agency and local authorities have undertaken a lot of work to put in place flood defence programmes.

Mr Woolas concluded: “Both the agency and councils are using their powers to restrict building on flood plains.”

Commenting on the ABI’s calls for more action to reduce flooding, Andy Leadbetter, head of home insurance at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said: “The report out today is another call for the Government to step up its efforts to reduce flood risk and this time the ABI is acting as town crier. It has been one full year since floods hit Britain and homeowners are already finding it difficult to find affordable and competitive insurance cover, especially if they have made a claim for flooding.

“DEFRA announced yesterday the Environment Agency will be responsible for all forms of flood risk management throughout the country. However, adequate funding to increase flood defences in high risk areas is essential, as without this insurers will have no choice but to hike premiums for vulnerable homeowners or even simply just wash their hands of them and stop insuring these areas altogether.”

Using the World Wide Web to obtain quotes offers many advantages. Some of the more obvious advantages include:

- Convenience of obtaining estimates of cost of insurance without even stepping outside your home
- The ability to analyze quotes provided by different insurance service providers without wasting any time
- Savings that usually accrue as a result of doing business on the World Wide Web

Apart from these obvious benefits, there are some special benefits that accrue only to those who make use of websites to search for insurance quotes.

You have the option of obtaining all your insurance policies from a single service provider. Experts often advice individuals to often multiple deals from the same insure as it puts them in a position to claim hefty discounts. The easiest way to find a package deal for each and every member of your family is to get an online quote. The savings that you make in each and every policy will translate to savings in excess of hundreds of dollars when the entire package is considered as a whole. This can be done without wasting any time or effort in completion of formalities.

You can get as many estimates as you want without the burden of finalizing any deal. You can visit numerous websites again and again and obtain multiple quotes until you are satisfied. There is absolutely no compulsion to finalize the deal with a particular insurer. This coupled with the fact that you get immediate access to estimates from top insurers will help you bargain from a position of strength.

If you have a poor credit score, you can wait to improve your credit score and boost your credit history before approaching insurance providers again. Normally, insurers do not specify the reasons for rejection of your offer. However, it is not very difficult to analyze and understand the reason why certain insurance providers are charging a high premium when you approach them for cover. If you are not in a position to identify the best deal, you just need vary the terms and conditions until you hit up on the best deal

It is important to compare insurance quotes before getting signed up with an insurance policy. When you compare insurance quotes you can rest assured you are saving both time and money because you are guaranteed to get the lowest insurance quote.

Given the current recession it is important to make sure to prioritize your money and compare insurance quotes online. A good place to state would be an online website that actually allows you to compare insurance quotes online for free.

A good site to compare insurance quotes online can be found here:

My stay at home wife and mother of our two sons has informed me she wants to look for a part time job so that she help me with the things I usually pay for related to her personal care, clothing, etc. Is she really helping me if all of the money is being spent on her? I told her I would have been more content if she had stated that half the money earned would go towards paying some of the utility bills and the rest she could spend it on what ever she wanted. I don’t think her reason to work is the correct one since we have over $15,000 dollars in unsecured credit card debt accumulated by me wanting to satisfy her every need. I know I’m to blame for letting this happen for too long. I’m I overreacting or is she right to do whatever she wants with her money while I continue to be the only one responsible for paying our two mortgages, credit cards, car insurance, grocery bills, gas, utilities, etc, etc, etc.

Profiling when done professionally has nothing to do with prejudice or racial bias. It’s not about groups at all — groups obviously can’t be “profiled” only indidviduals can. That why it’s called profiling rather than cookie-cutting of mass templating. The profileer simply looks at information we do know about an indidvidual to make educated guesses about what that particular individual is likely to do in the future.

Obama can be known, to some degree, the friends he has claimed as his own. So, who do we have:

1. Bill Ayers, the Weather Underground Bomber, who helped funnel money to ACORN, and who was a follower of Saul Alinski, the Founder of the Radical Community Organizer concept.

2. Rev Jeremiah Wright, who among other things said that AIDES is something put on Black people by White people as a way to commit genocide on Black people. For 20 years Obama listened to Rev Wright’s ’sermons”.

3. Department Chairman Henry Louis Gates, the Harvard Professor who recently chased a policeman out of his home tumultuously shouting “Your mother” “Your mother” “Your mother” in front of a crowd of people.

These three friends reveal a little bit about Obama and what’s going on in his brain. He is a Black Power Marxist — not so different from Malcolm X, or Bobby Seale. By any means necessary he will take what he can from the rich whites and give it to the poor blacks. It’s not stealing if it’s done in the name of “spreading the wealth around” (as the henchman Joe Biden likes to say). It’s really street justice. Eyes on the Prize justice.

OK Obama = Black Power Marxist.

So what does that tell us about his Healthplan?

It seems to suggest that the Healthplan is an attempt to break into the Mediacre Trust Fund, make re-distribute that money so that it pays for insurance premiums for 48 million uninsurable people.

Many of these uninsurable people have lifestyle habits which make them desparately ill, and which make them very poor. They will be so expensive to provide healthcare for, there will be nothing left of Medicare once Obama gets his hands on that money.

It’s not stealing — it’s street justice. The ACORN people just want to spread the wealth around, from the Medicare beneficiaries, who worked at least 40 quarters, and paid into FICA all their working lives, and who have addresses, with phones, and electricity, and heat, and cars, to the street people who are poor and have nothing.

Marx and Lenin saw the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat” as the final form of true justice. Obama and his friends are in the same general zone of thought.

Trusting this man with any sort of National Healthcare Plan would be completely crazy for anybody except the people at the bottom who have nothing. If you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to lose, as Bob Dylan said.

The Baby Boomers who are about to come into their Medicare entitlement (free medical care from their own doctors from age 65 till death, Long term Care, Hospitalization) would be raped, gutted and left for dead by the Obama plan. It would be Madoff style mayhem to their monetary means of healthcare support. Not stealing, just street justice, sort of Mao Mao style.

That’s who Obama is. That’s the profile. That is what he’s likely to do.

There are 6.1 Billion people in the world. I expect each of them to have their own ideas about Obama’s profile, as revealed by the content of his friends and their character, all must be free to make their own minds as they see fit. That’s why I’m asking the question, not trying to shape anybody’s view to be like my own.

I’m perfectly happy to have a National Healthcare Plan — but not while Obama is President — thank you very much!

Over 94% of all homeowners in Arizona are looking for affordable home insurance, and a large portion of them are even willing to consider insurance that is slightly high risk in order to save money each and every month. The really good news is that while almost every homeowner can save a considerable amount of money every month by purchasing high risk home insurance, there are several rather simple things that they can do around their homes to save even MORE.

Simply adding deadbolts to every exterior door, new locks on every window and installing motion-triggered floodlighting around your property will all save you money on your homeowner’s insurance each and every month.

Did you know that if there is a retired person living in your home you can save money on your home insurance? Well, you can. Insurance companies have found that having someone home most of the time means that fires, broken water lines and other potential problems are found and prevented if there is someone in the home – and so they pass a rather nice savings on to you if someone is in the home most of the time.

If you are willing to take a risk and you feel confident that your home is not in danger of being flooded then you could refuse to purchase flood insurance and save a considerable amount of money. Obviously this should only be done if you are very confident that flooding is not an issue where you live.

Make sure that you are only insuring the cost of rebuilding your home and replacing its contents and that you are not also paying home insurance on the value of the land under your home.

You can save around 30% each and every month on your insurance if you simply increase your deductible from $500 to $1,000. Of course, should you ever have a claim you will need to come up with your deductible in cash so don’t go overboard increasing your deductible.

You can save a lot on your home insurance if you purchase your policy online. Online home insurance sellers save a ton of money through having virtually no overhead costs and they pass a really remarkable savings along to you. In fact, you’d have to be a fool in this day and age NOT to buy your homeowner’s insurance online.

And to save even more money when you buy your policy online be sure to look at the prices on more than one homeowner’s insurance price comparison website. By looking at more than one site you will be seeing the results from more companies than if you just rely on one site and this will give you a greater chance of finding the lowest price possible in Arizona.

Also, getting multiple quotes from one site is a convenient way to go. It saves you a ton of time. Instead of going from one site to another filling out forms you only have to fill out one form and the compnay will send you several different quotes from different insurance companies. this is the best way to get all the information you are looking for in the least amount of time.
