Homeowners insurance policy is undoubtedly a very important form of policy that we must take, if we own a home. Among the basic covers that are given in this policy, fire is one of them. There are some important things that you should consider while going for a fire insurance policy. While some homeowners pay the cash value for the possessions that are razed due to fire, there are others that pay replacement value only. So how do you know which one should you go for?

It is thus important to find out the coverage that you need as far as the fire insurance policy is concerned. The cash value policy pays you for the present cash value that your possessions command. For instance, if you buy a mobile phone for $500 two years ago, and in the event of its destruction by fire in present circumstances, the insurance company will pay only the present worth of the phone, which will substantially less of what it was couple of years ago.

In case you go for the replacement cost, then the fire insurance company will pay whatever it costs to replace that item today, according to the present circumstances. So, if you had bought the phone say, two years ago, and if it is ‘phased out’ and no longer being manufactured, the insurance company will pay the money as a replacement cost for a comparable product.

Though on the face of it, you may want to go for the fire insurance policy that covers replacement costs, in case of expensive items like jewelry and artwork, you may go for the ‘cash value’ option in the fire insurance, because insurance companies tend to put a cap on high valued items. Also since items like jewelry and other valuables tend to appreciate in value over the years, it is better to get the right price for these items.

One of the things that matters while choosing a good fire insurance policy for your home is the cost of the deductible and how it can influence the price of the premium that you pay on a monthly basis. The deductible is the money that you have to shell out of your pocket, before the insurance company pays the claim. If you can afford a higher deductible, the premium money becomes small and you will be saving a lot of money.

To make sure that you get the right claim amount in the fire insurance policy, keep a track or rather, an inventory of personal possessions. Take pictures or make a video of these valuables. You should be able to prove to the insurance company the value of these items when the need arises. Of course, you should not keep these inventory lists or materials that prove the value of these possessions in your home (unless there is a fireproof safe), lest they may be burnt or destroyed through an unpredictable event of fire. So, it is better to keep them at a trusted person’s place or in a safe deposit box of the bank.

Renters insurance can be confusing, and costly, if you don’t understand it. Here are renters insurance guidelines that will explain renters insurance in simple terms and show you how to get the best rate.

Renters Insurance

Many renters are under the impression that their landlord’s insurance will cover them in the event of a fire or other catastrophe. Not so.

Your landlord’s insurance only protects the building you live in, not your personal property. If you want to protect your personal property from being damaged or destroyed you need to get renters insurance.

What Renters Insurance Covers

When you purchase renters insurance you’re getting three kinds of coverage. They are:

Personal Property Coverage

Personal property coverage pays to replace your personal property in the event it’s stolen, or if it’s damaged by fire, smoke, vandalism, explosions, windstorms, or plumbing leaks.

To determine how much renters insurance you actually need, take an inventory of everything you own – clothing, furniture, appliances, electronics, kitchen utensils, tools, sports equipments, etc. Total up the value of your personal property and use that figure as the amount of your personal property coverage.

Some expensive items like jewelry, furs, and silver, may not be covered by a standard policy, so you’ll need to purchase additional coverage for these items.

Additional Living Expenses Coverage

Additional living expenses coverage pays for you to live elsewhere when your home is uninhabitable and being repaired. It covers your hotel or motels bills, your restaurant bills, and any other additional expenses you may incur.

Standard additional living expenses coverage is equal to 30% to 50% of the amount of your policy. That means if you’re insured for $100,000, your insurance company pays your living expenses up to $30,000 to $50,000.

Personal Liability Coverage

Personal liability coverage protects you from lawsuits when you or your family are found liable for injuring someone or damaging their property.

The amount of liability coverage you need should be enough protect all your assets if you’re sued. Most people get $100,000 worth of liability coverage, but you can buy more if you need it.

If you work from home, first of all, you should feel very lucky! It is the great Australian dream for many working men and women out there, and has plenty of benefits. It might not quite be the same as just staying at home and getting paid for it â?¦ but most of those who are able to, feel that it is well worth it. Today we are looking at another possible benefit of working from home – a substantial reduction on your car insurance!

How car insurance is calculated
Some questions that car insurance companies ask you are standard across the industry. It is generally well accepted that the following can all contribute to your likelihood of having an accident and therefore having to claim on your car insurance:

The make and model of your car;

Your address – cars in certain locations are more likely to become ‘victims’ of crime (or at least, their owners are!)

The security measures taken around your car, for example whether it is parked in a garage or carport, if there is a lockable door or security gate between it and the general public, etc

Driver-related characteristics, such as the age and experience of any regular drivers listed on the policy

Claims history

The payment method – sometimes credit card payments incur surcharges, sometimes choosing not to direct debit monthly payments incurs surcharges

Any extra benefits you want added to the policy

However, one startling difference you’ll notice in some (good!) car insurance companies is that they’ll also ask you questions about how and when you use the car. The daily drive to work represents a substantial portion of the overall driving time for most people. A good car insurance company will lower your premium if you take steps to lower your risk … like working from home!

Long questionnaires, or assumptions?
When it comes time to choose a car insurance company, here is why a long, seemingly annoying and pointless questionnaire, is actually your best friend!
Standard car insurers will ask you a few questions about your car, its security, and how you use it, and make generalizations about the rest of the information. When you apply for home and contents insurance, the risks that could contribute to your premium being increased are usually shared across an entire postcode (even though only some houses are at increased risk). When it comes to car insurance, though, the risks are shared across the entire insurance company’s client base! If you don’t use your car very often, you are essentially paying for the risk incurred by other people that are heavy car users.

That’s why it’s a blessing to find an insurer that asks you those more specific, personal questions … they want to give you a premium based on your profile, not a generalised assessment. If you work at home, look for a car insurance company that asks the big questions, and you can expect to save significant dollars on your premium!

Â

Â

My stay at home wife and mother of our two sons has informed me she wants to look for a part time job so that she help me with the things I usually pay for related to her personal care, clothing, etc. Is she really helping me if all of the money is being spent on her? I told her I would have been more content if she had stated that half the money earned would go towards paying some of the utility bills and the rest she could spend it on what ever she wanted. I don’t think her reason to work is the correct one since we have over $15,000 dollars in unsecured credit card debt accumulated by me wanting to satisfy her every need. I know I’m to blame for letting this happen for too long. I’m I overreacting or is she right to do whatever she wants with her money while I continue to be the only one responsible for paying our two mortgages, credit cards, car insurance, grocery bills, gas, utilities, etc, etc, etc.

hi i am 17 years of age and i am gathering up all the information and trying to adhere to the critera of what has to be done for one to become emancipated. The reasons for my emacipation are simple. I will be 18 of feburary and my mother still treats me as if i were a child and everything has to be done thru her consent when many of the times i neither need money or her assistance.

I dont have a job yet because she had refused to get us a medical insurance which prevented me from getting a job because in the state of pennsylvannia people under the age of 18 need to have a working permit in order to apply and work at an establishement. I meet with all the critera that the juvinile court has established except when it is speaking of the employment standards.

These being that i have to have a job and at least be employed for six months. This gets difficult to do as time goes on

If i turn 18 before emanciption is need then i will let it all alone, but until then everyday that i have to live under the roof of my mother i will do everything in my vital power to leave and become my own person without her ridculous and outlandish demands which have no purpose or lesson whatsoever just the sheer satisfaction of knowing that she has the ablity to control someone, legally she can do that, doesnt mean that what is legal is always right. Since she wants to play it that way, then we shall play.

we used to have a wonderful relationship, seemingly inseperable but it all turned upside down when i told her that i was a homosexual, when i told her that she changed with me forever and has been extremely harsh and cold and now tells me that those are all the things that i am being. All i am trying to do is make things better but she wants me to shut the hell up and just be what she wants me to be and i will not give that to her, because i love who i am and most importantly i know who i am and that is exactly who i want to be.

She told me that i have to leave if i could not adhere to her rules, so be it and i will even do so before i have to leave because i will not spend not one more unnessary minuite with her under the dreadful conditions and bikering that we have been doing lately. I no longer wish to do that, i am done with this terrible plight her apathetic attitude towards living life is unbearable and she is unnegotiable, not one more minuite i will spend with her not one.

i am ready to be on my own without my mother, even without the means right now i will obtain them because most dreamed desire is to get away from her and as far as possible and as the saying goes if there is a will there is always a way along with the other saying in spainsh that goes “querer es poder” wanting truly is power and i will achieve this and it is all worth it every single moment.

she also wishes to keep me away from the one i love, and she said not in her home would she condone such actions, with that being the case will no longer be under her legal and tyrinical power neither her place of residence so i will be about my way and she will no longer have her dictatorial leash bound around my neck. I no longer have the need or the desire to be under her care so i will gather my belongings and get the necessites i need to become an emancipated minor.

it will work best for the both of us.

i just need to be told i there is anything else i need to be aware of as far as the process of becomeing an emancipated adult, i am already aware of that i will be; if a case arouse where i had broken a law, i would be tried and prosecuted as one. I speak of anything else that i am missing as far as the critera is concerned if i have all the info i need then i am content and know what needs to be done. Feel free to tell me anything you want just know that nothing anyone says can change the fact that any child that really REALLY feels like this should continue under the conditions and leave. it is the best for both parties.

The best relationships between child and parent are the far ones and how true that is.

thank you all and have a very wonderful day.
I apologize for the typo i meant to say

“she would not condone it”

My friend has a neurological problem that causes her to gag and puke for days at a time on a weekly basis. She can’t hold down a job because of this, her family isn’t financially stable either. I was thinking of starting an online donation site, to help get money to pay for her co pays. She needs all these tests done to monitor her body to see if she can get a surgery that might help. She gets very upset about her family paying for all her medical costs. Her health insurance won’t cover a nurse to go to the house and give her an IV. She is very thin and gets sick for like 3 days goes to ER gets an IV there than is released. Its pretty awful.

Is this a dumb idea
